1950s The Cars We Drove, 1947 Dodge - Aleko Vafiadis together with his car, uncle Minas and friends in Sandalyeciler Street. Aleko always had a passion with cars, he loved to drive them, took photo with them, change and own another one...Hurmuzios loved the cars too but as we know he didn’t know how to drive and had a private driver. Aleko was always proud with his cars, as you will see on upcoming photos during exhibition. We can also sense this passion with the children of Aleko, but me your storyteller... Dodge is an American car, which was famous in society of Istanbul in 1950s. In front of the car you will see round blazonries from different countries, which Vafiadis family bought them during their roadtrip in 1950s from different countries, that also shows us this was the car that used during the roadtrip. It was something important to modify, decorate the car. The plate of the car is the old version, different than todays plates, and it writes IST 6362. This photo has been taken in Sandalyeciler Street, in front of Kücük Yeni Han which was owned by Vafiadis family. Kucuk Yeni Han sold after the death of Hurmuzios as many other places.
